Terms of Use (EULA)
These Terms of Use ("Terms") are an end user license agreement between you and the developer of Quillbook: Check Register ("Quillbook," "the app," "we," "us"). By downloading or using the app, you agree to these Terms. These Terms are based on, and incorporate the protections of, Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement; where these Terms are silent, Apple's standard EULA applies.
1. License
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Quillbook on Apple-branded devices that you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Terms of Service. You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer, distribute, or resell the app except as permitted by law.
2. What Quillbook Is (Important)
Quillbook is a personal record-keeping tool. It does not connect to your bank and does not provide financial advice. Balances reflect what you enter.
Quillbook lets you record checks, deposits, withdrawals, and fees, mark entries as pending or cleared, and see two figures: a register balance covering everything you have entered, and a cleared balance covering only what you have marked cleared. Quillbook has no connection to any bank, card network, or financial institution, does not move money, and does not read or verify anything against your actual bank account. The accuracy of every balance depends entirely on what you enter and how promptly you mark items cleared; keeping your register accurate is your responsibility.
3. Saving and Backups
Every save is atomic and checksummed, and the app keeps redundant snapshots on your device. You can back up your full ledger to the Files app at any time from the Backup & Recovery Center, and restore from a backup with a preview before anything is replaced. Deleting the app removes its local data from your device. Because Quillbook has no account and no server, a backup you have exported to Files is the only copy of your records outside the app itself; we recommend keeping one current.
4. Free and Pro (Purchases)
- Free: Includes one account with every feature described on the app's product page — unlimited entries, both balances, search and filter, CSV export, and the Backup & Recovery Center.
- Quillbook Pro (one-time): The non-consumable "Quillbook Pro" (product ID
cleared.pro.lifetime) is offered at USD 4.99. It unlocks multiple accounts at the same time. It is not a subscription and does not auto-renew. A single payment, with no further charges afterward. The price is shown in the app before purchase. - Restoring purchases: Tap "Restore Purchase" in Settings. Because Quillbook Pro is non-consumable, it can be restored with the same Apple Account after switching devices or reinstalling.
- Refunds: All billing and refunds are handled by Apple, according to Apple's own policy — we have no separate refund policy and cannot issue refunds ourselves. Request a refund from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
5. Privacy
Quillbook collects no data, has no account, and does not communicate over the network. All processing happens on your device. See the Privacy Policy for details.
6. Disclaimer of Warranties
The app is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any balance will match your actual bank balance. Quillbook is a record of what you enter, not a connection to your bank; see Section 2.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from use of or inability to use the app, including losses related to entries you made, balances you relied on, or data you did not back up. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the app in the twelve months preceding the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
8. Changes to the App or Terms
We may update the app and these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
9. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Japan, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Japan, except where mandatory consumer-protection law provides otherwise.
10. Apple as Third-Party Beneficiary
You acknowledge that Apple and Apple's subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them. Apple has no obligation to furnish any maintenance or support services with respect to the app; support is provided by us (see below).
