Privacy Policy
Summary
Quillbook collects no data. It has no account, no analytics, and sends nothing to us. Every account, entry, category, and backup you create is processed and stored entirely on your own iPhone. We operate no server for the app, so there is nowhere for your records to go.
Because of this, Quillbook's App Privacy label on the App Store is "Data Not Collected."
1. Data We Collect
We do not collect, receive, store, or process any personal or usage data. Specifically:
- No account is required or offered. You never provide a name, email address, or password to use Quillbook.
- Your records never leave your device. Accounts, entries (checks, deposits, withdrawals, and fees), categories, memos, balances, and backups are processed and held only on your iPhone.
- No tracking. Quillbook contains no advertising, no ad identifiers, and no tracking technologies, and does not track you across apps or websites.
- No analytics. Quillbook contains no analytics SDKs, no crash-reporting SDKs, and no third-party SDKs of any kind.
2. Network Communication
Quillbook does not connect to the internet. It has no server, does not sync, and does not fetch or send data of any kind while you use it. Every calculation — including your balances — happens on your device.
3. Where Your Data Is Stored
Accounts and entries are stored in the app's private storage on your iPhone, using an atomic, checksummed save so that a save either completes cleanly or the previous good copy is kept. None of this is transmitted to us.
If you have iCloud Backup enabled on your device, this app's local data may be included in that backup, according to your device's iCloud Backup settings. That is a function of iOS and your Apple Account, not of Quillbook — we have no part in it and no access to its contents.
4. Backing Up to Files
Quillbook's Backup & Recovery Center lets you export a complete backup of your ledger to the Files app, and later restore from a backup you choose. This only happens when you tap to do it. The backup file is written to a location you pick in Files (which may include a cloud-connected folder such as iCloud Drive if you choose one); Quillbook itself does not upload it anywhere. What happens to a backup file after that point — for example, if it syncs to a cloud folder or an external drive — follows the settings of Files and the storage location you selected, not anything Quillbook does.
5. Purchases
Quillbook Pro (a one-time, non-consumable purchase) is processed entirely by Apple through the App Store (StoreKit). Payment is handled by Apple under Apple's own terms and privacy policy. We never see or receive your name, email address, billing address, card number, or any other payment information. The app only checks, via StoreKit on your device, whether your purchase is valid, and keeps a local record of that status on your device. See the Terms of Use for details on how Free and Pro work.
6. Children's Privacy
Because Quillbook collects no data from anyone, it also collects no data from children.
7. Changes to This Policy
If we ever change this policy, we will update this page and revise the "Last updated" date above. Any change that would involve collecting data (which we do not plan) would be clearly stated in the app before it took effect.
